YOUR NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL 2020
Dear friends and well-wishers of TARA,

We hope you are well and taking the necessary precautions against the current pandemic.

The situation reminds us of how helpless we can be before certain phenomena. Nonetheless, we had anticipated the lock-down, which made the transition easier to manage and enabled us to quickly put in place a new rotation in the staff. Children are absolutely fine and successfully adjusting to their new routine.
However, we are extremely concerned about how the situation will evolve in India, over the next few weeks and months. In these times of crisis and uncertainity, taking on the daily responsibility of 60 children is quite challenging.

The spread of disease has not only brought administrative and operational challenges, but also financial difficulties. To give you an example, some of our partners have decided to re-direct their funds towards the projects related to COVID-19. This has been a major financial setback for TARA and we, more than ever, need your support.

If you want to help us, here are the three possible actions:

1. Support a Home by letting TARA choose to attribute your sponsorship to its urgent needs.

2. Order hygiene products and non-perishable food items from your place and these will be delivered directly to our homes.

3. Donate (or lend) a computer you no longer use or school materials: notebooks, pencils, A4 sheets, etc. The majority of schools have launched online courses, which requires that each child has access to a computer every day. If you live in Delhi, our logistics team can pick it up directly from your place

First anniversary of our day-care centre

A first date to celebrate but also a good time to take stock of the achievements of the past year. Here is the testimony of Akanksha, Manager of the center:
"Thanks to the efforts of the whole team, we managed to re-enroll 9 children in school.
Most of the children arrive at the center with extreme shortcomings in Hindi, English and mathematics. By working day to day with them, we have the pleasure of seeing their developments. A child who could not identify the alphabets and  is now able to read words: a moment like this is what makes me extremely proud of my work."

Holi, a festival of colors

Every year around the same time, children have a small burst of mischief in their eyes. Do you wonder why? The answer is simple: Holi, the festival of colors is approaching and with it, a day that promises to be full of madness. This year was no exception... here is some visual proof.

A new Child Representative in TARA Girls

Every six months bring an opportunity for the girls to choose their representative who becomes their face in staff meetings, discusses their issues and makes sure that the girls remain disciplined throughout. Six candidates stood for the elections and delivered speech mentioning their capabilities, followed with a round of Q&A to guage their motivation and capacities. One by one, they casted their vote and it's Kamala, who is the new Child Representative of TARA Girls.
